The Gillett City Council on Dec. 5 approved Mayor Jon Blaskowski’s appointment of Matthew Young to a vacant slot on the council, representing the 2nd Aldermanic District.
Sandra Hubbard recently said she is unable to continue and resigned from the council, Blaskowski said. Three people applied for the open seat, and the mayor decided to appoint Young, who owns the All Flooring contracting firm in Gillett.
“I’m excited to have him on, and we will now have a full board again and get a-rolling,” he said.
Young will complete Hubbard’s unexpired term through April 2026, at which time he can run for election in his own right.
