Winter wheat producers invited to workshop

Oconto and Marinette County University of Wisconsin-Extension will offer a workshop designed to help winter wheat producers review their management strategies and get ready to maximize profit from their 2016 winter wheat acres. The workshop will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16, at the Oconto Falls Community Library, 251 N. Main St. Crops/Soils Agent Scott Reuss will lead the discussion. Topics will be proper timing, agronomic BMPs, input management decision-making and making the straw-baling decision. The session is free and open to all winter wheat or potential winter wheat producers. An important part of the discussion is the questions that attendees bring with them, so be ready to discuss specifics. Preregistration is not required. For directions to the library, call the library staff at 920-846-2673. Because of state Highway 22 road construction in Oconto Falls, participants are encouraged to allow plenty of time to get to their destination. For questions about the program or to discuss these principles if you cannot attend the workshop, contact Reuss at 715-732-7510 or scott.reuss@ces.uwex.edu.
