Weight training part of Strong Bones program

Strong Bones classes will be held from 2-3 p.m. Monday and Wednesday from April 7 to July 7 at Bayside Senior Living, 237 Cook Ave., Oconto. A required assessment will take place by appointment from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. March 28. The program is a twice-weekly exercise program that includes light weight training, flexibility, balance activities and nutrition education. The exercises are safe and effective for women and men of all ages, including those who are not in perfect health. People with health concerns such as arthritis, heart disease, osteoporosis, diabetes, obesity and back pain often benefit the most from an exercise program that includes lifting light weights a few times each week. The instructors are Judy Kozlowski from Bayside Senior Living and Donna Doll-Yogerst, University of Wisconsin-Extension family living agent. The cost is $15 for new students and $10 for past participants. Scholarships are available through Oconto County Commission on Aging for those who qualify. Call 920-834-7707 for information. Register by phone no later than March 27 by calling the UW-Extension office, 920-834-6846.
