‘Village of Lights’ underway in Lena

The “Village of Lights” preparation is underway in Lena. This traditional holiday kickoff is scheduled for Dec. 7. Start the evening by stopping at the Lena Village Hall, then travel to local businesses that will be sponsoring specials, providing treats and inviting everyone to join in on a game of “Blizzard Bingo.” Visit all the participating businesses to get your card signed and earn a chance to win a gift card. The Lena Public Library will be waiting and ready for you to write a letter to Santa, and Christmas movies will be shown. At 4:45 p.m., the third annual Reindeer Dash 5K Run will start with pre-registration at Lena High School. The run is sponsored by the Lena High School baseball program. The village Christmas tree lighting ceremony will take place at 5 p.m. at Village Hall, as the Reindeer Dash runners begin their race. At 5 p.m., Santa arrives at the Lena Village Hall by fire truck so the reindeer can rest up for Christmas. Don’t forget the horse drawn wagon rides, sponsored by Saputo, to see all the light displays in Lena from 5-7 p.m. Christmas trees, wreath, poinsettia sales, cookie decorating and much more will help to make this event extra special.
