Terrance Carl Murphy, 85, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 5. He was born on Oct. 2, 1930, in Chicago. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Vera Murphy, along with two sons, Robert and James Murphy.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Barbara Soulek Murphy, son, Bill Murphy (wife, Monica), John, Kevin and Ellie, of Wauwatosa.
He is also survived by his daughter, Julie Stover (husband, Rick), Sam, Emma, Katie, Andy, and grandchild Dillon, of Battle Creek, Michigan.
His stepchildren, their wives, husbands and children will also miss him: Michael, Susan, Micah, Sarah and Erik Soulek; Scott and Kassie Soulek, Dustin, Megan, Corey and Grace; Bob and Kim Gomez, Garrett and Graham; Brian and Kathy Ewald, Donnie, Tiffany, Danielle; and seven great-grandchildren.
Verelle Leaton, his very “special” sister from Carbondale, Illinois, also survives him, along with three nieces and a nephew.
KC Stock and Georgia, brother and sister -in-law, of De Pere, also survive.
Terry graduated from Taft High School, Chicago, in 1948, and Lake Forest College, Illinois, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics. He was a Kappa Sigma member.
Terry lived most of his life traveling Wisconsin as a women’s apparel salesman. In later years, he and Barbara moved to the Dallas area, traveling Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas.
After retirement at Lake Kiowa, Texas, Terry decided to run for constable of Cook County, Texas. He won by a landslide and loved his job as a certified Texas peace officer.
In 2000, he and Barbara moved to The Villages, Florida, where he loved being marshal at the Nancy Lopez Golf Course for seven years. He loved golf, along with being an avid Cubs fan and a Chicago Bears fan. Back in 1943, he enjoyed the privilege of playing at Wrigley Field as a Jr. Bear in Chicago.
In 2007, they both moved back to San Antonio, Texas, to be closer to family.
Just recently, Terry and Barbara moved to independent living at The Inn at Los Patios. They had lived there just two months when Terry became ill. He passed away suddenly after a short illness.
Porter Loving handled arrangements. His wish was to be cremated. A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 8, at Los Patios, 8700 Post Oak Lane, San Antonio, Texas 78217. Officiating was the Rev. Elmer Hembree.
