The Suring School District will host Literacy Night on Wednesday, April 29, to promote reading and writing and advocate for the importance of literacy in education. The event is open to the entire community.
The Suring teaching staff will run activities from 3:45-7 p.m., with dinner served in the cafeteria from 6-6:45 p.m.
From 5-6 p.m., Jamie Kozloski, director of Kingdom Animalia exotic animal rescue, will tell about her rescue program and the problems animals face in the pet trade and in the wild.
Beginning at 6 p.m., students and families can be photographed with the animals for a $1 donation. Proceeds will go to Kingdom Animalia to be used to care for the animals.
In addition, raffle tickets will be available for purchase, and winners will be selected starting at 6:30 p.m. Individuals must be present to win.
The language arts department will also sell raffle tickets to raise money for furniture for the reading room/honors lounge.
