Are you interested in getting some hands-on experience on what kind of training law enforcement does? Do you want to see what it takes to be an officer? Want to meet the deputies and officers who serve the communities in Shawano County?
Shawano Citizens Police Academy is the place to do it.
This is an interactive class where you get to see how officers train and see how they deal with different aspects of their jobs. Meet the officers and have many hands-on experiences — including the opportunity to see what it’s like to make a traffic stop, do some building clearing where a suspect may be, learn some defense and arrest tactics such as handcuffing, tour the Shawano Fire Department and do some hands-on activities, tour the Shawano Ambulance and their ambulances as well as many other activities.
Classes will be held from 6-9 p.m. Wednesdays, March 5 through May 9, with the exception of March 26.
All residents of Shawano and Menominee counties are invited. Those who live close to Shawano County and don’t have a class in their community can reach out and potentially still attend.
There is no cost, and attendees must be at least 18.
