The Dance Against Violence Sock Hop will celebrate its 10th anniversary Oct. 17. The dance is a fundraiser for the nonprofit nIc Foundation.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. at the Grand Meridian, 2621 N. Oneida St., Appleton. Swing dance lessons will be available at 6:45 p.m. The dance begins at 8 p.m., with 1950s and 1960s music by the Bobby Rivers Band.
The cost is $20 per person at the door and includes a buffet, dance lesson and raffle ticket. The event also includes a silent auction, hula hoop contest, display of children’s artwork and more.
Raffle prizes include a Pelican kayak, Miller welder, Door County escape package, Green Bay Packers tickets, artwork, digital camera, Belle de Mer pearls, men’s Caravelle watch and much more. Raffle tickets are $5 per ticket or three tickets for $10.

The nIc Foundation provides violence prevention educational initiatives for children in Northeastern Wisconsin. During the 2013-2014 school year, the nIc Foundation made 184 classroom visits teaching a bullying prevention/character education curriculum.
