Shawano soccer team breaks into state’s top 10

Shawano’s boys soccer team is ranked No. 8 in Division 3 in Wisconsin, according to the Wisconsin Soccer Coaches Association. The Hawks posted an 11-5-2 record to earn the distinction. Oct. 15 Green Bay Preble 5, Pulaski 1 The Red Raiders fell to the Hornets in Fox River Classic Conference play 5-1. The game featured three goals in the first 11 minutes. Talan Lecaptaine got Preble on the board with a goal in the fifth minute. Pulaski was able to equalize in the seventh minute when Donovan Holderness converted a penalty kick. Four minutes later, the Hornets took the lead back as Lecaptaine scored his second goal of the match. The Red Raiders would be shut out the rest of the way as the Hornets scored three more unanswered goals en route to the win. Jonah Drevs made six saves in goal for Pulaski (12-4-3, 3-4-1). Landin Gauthier made four saves in goal for Preble (11-3-3, 5-1-1). Green Bay East 4, Shawano 0 Oct. 14 Newman Catholic 7, Gresham/Bowler 0 Gresham/Bowler was shut out, giving up six goals in the first half and a seventh in the second half. The team is 0-11 in the Central Wisconsin Conference and 1-14-1 overall.
