Shawano girls win home Holiday Classic

Despite missing some starters, the Shawano girls wrestling team had a few girls step up, and as a team, they won their home Holiday Classic on Dec. 21. “The whole team really wrestled some good matches today,” coach Mike Homan said. “I think everyone is improving and working hard to get better.” Gwyn Hermann, Brynn Hannes and Adalyn Barkley each finished in second place. “Gwyn wrestled hard and earned bonus points for the team; she is doing great and continues to improve,” Homan said. “Brynn is new to the team this year and has a physical toughness that she uses in her matches. Adalyn has been consistent all season. She is a leader in the practice room and works hard to be the best she can be.” Vivian Waldburger, Lily Tomas, Jozlin Brocker and Lauren Seehafer all took third place. “These girls did a great job battling all day. Many of them beat wrestlers they had previously lost to,” Homan said. “Each one of them continues to improve each time on the mat. The also earned a good amount of team points today.” Bella Supper, Jacey Cowden and Emmy Marien all took fourth place. Zennah Bosetski, Kendall Knope, Maddie Miller and Ayanna O’Kimosh each placed fifth.
