Robert Earl Fleming quietly went to heaven Nov. 11, 2013, at the age of 87. He was born March 7, 1926, to the late Leo and Carrie (Schultz) Fleming.
He graduated from Seymour High School with the Class of 1944. He kept many lifelong friends from that time. On Nov. 9, 1946, he was united in marriage to Delores Wagner, and the couple just celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary. For 45 years, Bob and Del raised kids and dairy cattle as they farmed at R2, Pulaski. They retired in 1991 to their home on Shawano Lake. They loved to watch all the activity on the lake, plus catch a fish or two. The pontoon just went into storage, and the ice shanty is waiting. For 11 years Bob and Del were snowbirds, who shared a winter home in Zephyrhills, Fla., with his sister, Ruth, and her husband, Stan.
He is survived by his wife, Delores, and their eight children: Kathee (Tom) Van Drasek, Green Bay, Fred (Georgia) Fleming, Hobart, Mary (Steve) Hill, Cecil, Jane (Tim) Eisenreich, Seymour, Deb (Ken) Wagner, Chilton, Terry (Renee) Fleming, Pulaski, Lisa (Mike) Thiede, Freedom, Cheryl (Bob) Vanden Burgt, Madison. Bob was the proud and loving grandpa for 17 grandchildren: Kris (Mark) Skinner, Rhinelander, Scott Jay Hanson, Seymour, Eric (Amy) Fleming, Oconto Falls, Becky (Robert) Ackley, California, Stephanie (Adam Harbaugh) Hill, Montana, Robert (Sara Schwartz) Hill, New York, Shena (James) Straka, Neenah, Alison (Tim) Everson, Green Bay, Ross (Dana) Eisenreich, Florida, Alex (Joann Deibele) Wagner, Florida, Sam Wagner, Chilton, Dylan Fleming, Pulaski, Michael Fleming, Pulaski, Josh (fiancee Katie Van Dyke) Thiede, Minnesota, Zach Thiede, Freedom, Hannah and Casey Vanden Burgt, Madison. Bob enjoyed his nine great-grandchildren: Ravyn Kuester, Schye, Nick and Logan Skinner, Abbey Parins, Sophia Ackley, Laine and Addi Everson, who called him “Chocolate grandpa,” plus the newest member of the family, Ethan Straka. Starting the fifth generation is great-great-granddaughter, Katrina Kuester. He is also survived by his sister, Ruth Scott.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, a brother-in-law and sister-in-law.
Friends may call at St. Sebastian Catholic Church, Isaar, on Friday, Nov. 15, 2013, from 9:30 a.m. until the Mass of Christian burial at noon, with the Rev. Bob Kabat officiating. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery.
