Relay for Life seeks area volunteers

The American Cancer Society Relay for Life is seeking volunteers who would like to make a difference in the Shawano area by helping plan the local event. Volunteers are needed to help organize and recruit fundraising teams, garner community support, coordinate logistics, seek refreshments and prizes, plan entertainment and lend a hand to ensure the success of the event March 28 at Shawano Community High School, 220 County Road B, Shawano. Volunteer committee meetings are held monthly in Shawano. Relay for Life supports the mission of the American Cancer Society to save lives by helping people stay well, by helping people get well, by finding cures and by fighting back against the disease. Teams do most of their fundraising prior to the event, but some teams also hold creative fundraisers at the event. “Relay for Life is all about our community uniting with the American Cancer Society and supporting its efforts to finish the fight,” said Jenny Mailahn, co-chair of the event leadership team. “Volunteers and participants who are willing to give their time and energy to this exciting event are making a commitment to let Shawano and Menominee community members know that cancer can be defeated.” If you would like to join the Relay for Life of Shawano-Menominee as a volunteer or team participant, call Kristen at the American Cancer Society at 920-321-1366 or visit RelayForLife.org/shawano-menomineewi.
