Public invited to apply for NWTC Board

Northeast Wisconsin Technical College is now accepting applications for three positions on its district board of trustees. Applications for three positions are being accepted. In accordance with Wisconsin Statutes, the following categories will be filled with candidates residing within the NWTC District — employer representative, employee representative and additional member. These representatives will fill a three-year term beginning July 1 and expiring June 30, 2028. The appointments represent several counties, including Oconto County. In the appointment process, equal consideration is given to the general population distribution within the district and to the distribution of women and diverse populations on the board, in accordance with its plan of representation. To qualify as an employer, you must receive earnings as payment for your service and possess the power to hire, transfer, suspend, layoff, recall, promote, discharge, assign, reward or discipline other employees or adjust employee grievances or effectively recommend such action if in connection with the exercise of such power the person exercises independent judgment in relation to the power. Employer does not include a person acting in the capacity of officer or agent of a labor organization. At the time of their appointment, employers also must be actively engaged in business and employ others. You are considered an applicant in the employee representative category if you receive payment for work performed but do not qualify as an employer using the definition described above. An officer or agent of a labor organization automatically qualifies as an employee. All residents of a technical college district are eligible to serve as an additional member for the college. Applications must be submitted in writing on forms and must contain at least two letters of reference supporting their nomination. Applications may be obtained from the Northeast Wisconsin Technical College District Office, 2740 W. Mason St., Green Bay, or by contacting Christine Bekyir, interim executive assistant to the board, at 920-498-6997 or christine.bekyir@nwtc.edu. The application form is also available at nwtc.edu/Board. Applications will be accepted until 4 p.m. Feb. 24. All candidates must attend a public hearing of the District Board Appointment Committee, at which their appointments to the district board are discussed. The public hearing and committee meeting are scheduled for 3 p.m. April 7 in the NWTC District Office Boardroom on the Green Bay campus.
