Hawks fall to Notre Dame rally
The No. 3-seeded Shawano Community High School softball team lost a lead late against No. 2 Green Bay Notre Dame, losing the WIAA Division 2 regional semifinal 4-3 Tuesday at Riverview Park in Green Bay.
The Hawks (8-14, 6-9 Bay) led 3-0 heading into the bottom of the sixth, but Notre Dame (7-9, 5-9 Fox River Classic) scored a run on a Shawano error. In the seventh, another error, a single and a hit batter set up Jackie Calba, who hit a pop fly that landed inside the right field line to bring in the winning run.
Shawano pitcher Courtney Baumann allowed just one hit over the first five innings, finishing with four. Briana Boda, Saige Henning and Allison Raddant each had two hits.
Emma Prebelski scattered eight hits to earn the win for Notre Dame.
Bowler advances to final
The No. 2-seeded Marion High School softball team beat No. 6 Bowler 12-2 in six innings Tuesday to advance to the WIAA Division 4 regional final Tuesday in Marion.
The Mustangs will face No. 4 Wausau Newman Catholic, which toppled No. 1 Tigerton, 11-3, in the other regional semifinal.
