OFHS girls place 3rd at Peshtigo

Behind two first-place finishes by junior Bailey Wolf, the Oconto Falls High School girls track team took third Thursday at the 12-team Peshtigo Invitational. The Panthers accumulated 111 points, 42 behind meet winner Kewaunee (153). Marinette was second with 129.33 points. Wolf took first place in the 800- and 1,600-meter runs. “Her consistency has been amazing all year,” coach Karissa Kaiser said. “She has always done well in our distance events.” Kennedy Kratz achieved a personal best in the long jump, at 13 feet, 10.5 inches, was second in the 400 (1:06.04) and was part of the second-place 400 relay squad with juniors Liza Leja and Carolyn Malcheski and senior Evy O’Harrow. “(Kennedy) did awesome and had a great night out,” Kaiser said. “She had a personal record in the long jump by 2 feet.” Sophomore Diane Moore hurdled her way to two second-place finishes in both the 100 and 300 hurdles. Moore was .61 seconds behind 100 hurdles winner Payton Plutchak, of Menominee, Michigan, and 1.16 seconds behind Abby VanGoethem (51.76), of Kewaunee, in the 300. Panthers junior Josie Ausloos also notched a top-five finish, coming up fourth in the 100 hurdles. “Our hurdlers have been strong, and they have done an amazing job,” Kaiser said. “I am really excited for (Diane) Moore, since she is only sophomore, and am excited to know we will have her for two more years.” Peshtigo Invitational Team results: 1.
