Proceedings of Aug. 30
• Buzz A. Anwash, 39, Wabeno, was sentenced to three years in prison, followed by three years of extended supervision, for operating a motor vehicle with a prohibited blood alcohol content (seventh offense), in connection with an incident that occurred Jan. 28. Judge Michael Judge ruled that the sentence is consecutive to any other sentences that Anwash is currently serving. The judge further ruled that after serving 18 months Anwash will be eligible to enter the Substance Abuse Program, which can lead to early release upon successful conclusion.
• Steven M. Ducat, 37, Oconto, was sentenced to three years in prison, followed by four years of extended supervision, for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated (fourth offense), first-degree recklessly endangering safety, fleeing an officer in a vehicle, two counts of misdemeanor disorderly conduct and a misdemeanor count of resisting or obstructing an officer, in connection with an incident that occurred March 17. Judge ruled that after serving two years of this sentence, Ducat may be eligible for the substance abuse program. Ducat received credit for 166 days already served in county jail.
• Jacob Louis Anderson, 35, Coleman, pleaded no contest to two misdemeanor counts of resisting or obstructing an officer and one misdemeanor count each of possession of cocaine, in connection with an incident that occurred June 9. Judge imposed and stayed a county jail sentence and placed Anderson on two years of probation.
• Joel S. Willmann, 30, Sobieski, pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor count of resisting or obstructing an officer, in connection with an incident that occurred March 5. Two counts of felony bail jumping were dismissed but read into the record as part of a plea agreement. Judge levied fines and sentenced him to six months in county jail.
• Michael T. Stangel, 36, Green Bay, waived his right to a preliminary hearing and pleaded not guilty to strangulation and suffocation, two counts of misdemeanor disorderly conduct and one count of misdemeanor battery, in connection with an incident that allegedly occurred Nov. 22. Judge scheduled a status conference for Nov. 4.

• David Lawrence Vanness, 58, Luxemburg, pleaded no contest to operating a motor vehicle with a prohibited blood-alcohol content (sixth offense), in connection with a crash that occurred Sept. 30, 2023. Judge scheduled sentencing for Oct. 29 and ordered a pre-sentence investigation.
• Edward Alexander Lewis, 52, Oconto Falls, waived his right to a preliminary hearing and pleaded not guilty to possession of methamphetamine, maintaining a drug trafficking place, two counts of felony bail jumping, and misdemeanor counts of possession of THC and possession of drug paraphernalia, in connection with an incident that allegedly occurred May 25. Lewis had previously been charged with possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, bail jumping, maintaining a drug trafficking place, and misdemeanor possession of THC and possession of drug paraphernalia, in connection with an incident that allegedly occurred Feb. 7, 2023. Judge scheduled a plea hearing in both cases for Sept. 18.
• A final pre-trial conference was held for Cindy M. Earley, 56, Oconto, for a Sept. 11 jury trial on a felony charge of child abuse intentionally causing harm and misdemeanor counts of bail jumping and disorderly conduct, in connection with an incident that allegedly occurred June 23, 2021. Judge scheduled a status conference at the same time for a separate case involving felony bail jumping and misdemeanor counts of resisting or obstructing an officer and disorderly conduct, in connection with an incident that allegedly occurred Sept. 29, 2023.
• Virginia M. Huycke, 39, Oconto, was bound over after a preliminary hearing and pleaded not guilty to two counts of possession of methamphetamine and two misdemeanor counts possession of drug paraphernalia, in connection with incidents that allegedly occurred May 25 and 26. Judge scheduled a pre-trial conference for Oct. 17.
• A $2,500 signature bond was set for Tammy J. Gauthier, 43, Seymour, after she was charged with felony bail jumping and misdemeanor possession of an illegally obtained prescription, in connection with an incident that allegedly occurred March 30. Judge had approved a two-year deferred judgment agreement with Gauthier on Aug. 30, 2022, after she pleaded no contest to possession of methamphetamine in a Nov. 23, 2021, incident. He adjourned her initial appearance on the new charge until Sept. 12.
Proceedings of Aug. 21
• An Aug. 27-29 jury trial was rescheduled to Jan. 6-8 for Peter J. VanHulle, 35, Oconto, on a charge of second-degree recklessly endangering safety, in connection with an incident that allegedly occurred July 23, 2023. Judge ordered that all discovery be shared and motions filed by Dec. 1, and he scheduled a new final pre-trial conference for Dec. 2.
