Norman E. Olson

Norman E. Olson, 92, Peshtigo, formerly Gillett, died Friday morning, June 10, 2022, at Bay Area Medical Center in Marinette. He was born Dec. 24, 1929, in the Gillett area to Albert and Laura (Larson) Olson. Norman grew up on the family farm in rural Gillett where he learned how to own and operate a successful farm. On Aug. 28, 1953, he married Helen Heise. As a young married couple and living with his parents, they purchased the 120-acre farm next door and farmed it for most of their lives. Norman and Helen enjoyed going on bus trips and polka dancing. They retired to Gillett, and Helen died in 1996. Norman later married Evelyn Hartman, and they made their home in Peshtigo. She preceded him in death in 2021. He was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Green Valley and, years ago, Midwest Breeders and the Morgan Co-op. Norman will be fondly remembered as a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Survivors are his three children, Randy (Bev) Olson, Rick (Teresa) Olson and Pam (Hank) Wagner; nine grandchildren, April (Abner) Flores, Kendall (Kraig) Kasper, Katie Jo (Matt) Bohm and Eric (Nikki) Olson; Tracey, Rachel and Emily Olson; Shawn (Crystal) Wagner and Laura (Tyler) Raatz; 12 great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Mavis Olson. He was preceded in death by his parents, both of his wives, one brother Arnold and infant sister, Gloria. Visitation will be held after 9 a.m. Saturday, June 18, 2022, at Bethel Lutheran Church in the Town of Green Valley until the time of service. Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, and burial will follow in the church cemetery. Jones Funeral Service is serving the Olson family. The Olson family would like to thank Rennes-West, Bay Area Medical Center and Unity Hospice for the care and concern shown Norman during their time together.
