County might increase Huber inmate fee

Shawano County Jail inmates assigned to the Huber Work Release Center might have to pay a little more per day for the privilege of going to work. The Public Safety Committee discussed increasing the fee from $17.50 per day to $20 on Wednesday, but decided to postpone a decision until January in order to gather more information. Rescheduled Santa Parade still on for tonight
It will still be a bit chillier than originally hoped when Santa Claus finally comes to town Friday for the rescheduled downtown parade in his honor, but conditions should be better than last week when frigid temperatures forced the parade to be postponed. Lucille P. DeZorzi
Lucille P. DeZorzi, 91, of Shawano, formerly of Caspian, Mich., passed away Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2013, at a local nursing home. Born on Feb. 9, 1922, in Green Bay, she was the daughter of the late Ottavio and Catrina (Puller) Albisini. On Sept. 26, 1942, she was united in marriage to Joseph DeZorzi in Caspian. Lucille was a great cook and loved preparing delicious meals for her family.

Dolores A. Huntington-Zahringer
Dolores A. Huntington-Zahringer, 87, of Shawano, formerly of Gresham, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2013, surrounded by her loving family. Born on Oct. 7, 1926, in Milwaukee, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Florence (Zingsheim) Garska. At the age of 10, Dolores and her family moved to Shawano. On April 29, 1944, she was united in marriage to Harry Huntington.

Wilhelmina M. Wagner
Wilhelmina M. Wagner, 95, of Shawano, passed away Tuesday morning, Dec. 10, 2013, at Evergreen Care Center in Shawano, where she had been a resident for the past four years. Wilhelmina was born Jan. 26, 1918, in the town of Poy Sippi, Waushara County, a daughter of the late Ernst and Bertha (Mielke) Buhrow. She attended country schools, and following graduation from high school, she enrolled in the North Central Bible College in Minneapolis.

Shawano Community High School The Shawano FFA will sponsor a teddy bear toss at the SCHS boys basketball game Friday. You will be able to buy a teddy bear at the game or you can bring your own from home. We will be checking in the bears in the commons before the game. At halftime of the varsity game, you can throw your bear out on the court and possibly win a prize.

Bears fall to Amherst rally
The Bonduel High School boys basketball team lost the lead in the second half and fell 62-54 to Amherst in Central Wisconsin Conference-8 action Thursday night in Bonduel. The Bears (3-3, 0-2 CWC-8) had a slim 30-26 lead at halftime as the Falcons (4-0, 2-0 CWC-8) got in early foul trouble.

Bonduel grapplers top Amherst
The Bonduel High School wrestling team beat Amherst 45-24 in a dual meet Thursday in Amherst. Three Bonduel wrestlers earned pins. Mitch Sokolski pinned Sawyer Hintz in 1 minute, 59 seconds in the 170-pound match. Jacob Wudtke (182) got a pin of Gavin Sneller in 13 seconds.
