Shawano, Pulaski tennis teams win

Sept. 17 Shawano 6, Marinette 1 Tennis players from Shawano captured all three doubles matches and three of the four singles rounds as the Hawks topped Marinette 6-1 at home. Ireland Letterman won at No. 1 singles 6-1, 6-0, while No. 2 Rachael Carroll won with identical 6-0 shutouts. At No. 3, Laney Rich won 6-1, 6-1. The only loss came at No. 3 singles, when Hadley Rettke lost a hotly contested 7-6 (3), 6-3 match to Bianca Furton.

Menominee history, forest subject of statewide conference
The Forest History Association of Wisconsin is partnering with the Menominee Tribe’s Historic Preservation Officer and its forest manager to tell the story of change in the lives of tribal members and their forest that began more than 200 years ago and continues even today. The storytelling began in September with a pair of free webinars to be followed by a conference in Keshena, set for Oct.

Sydney is keynote speaker at Men’s Night
Healthy Oconto County, a coalition of agencies and individuals in Oconto County working together to assess and improve community health, has scheduled its second annual Men’s Night at Primal Eats on the evening of Oct. 1. The keynote speaker at the event will be Harry Sydney, former Green Bay Packer and founder of My Brother’s Keeper. He plans to talk about the importance of mental health. The event begins at 5 p.m.

Wildlife art exhibit coming to art gallery
The Walls of Wittenberg Art Gallery will host a new exhibit that captures the beauty and diversity of wildlife through multiple artistic mediums. The exhibit “Untamed” will feature a collection of oil paintings, murals, wood carvings and taxidermy showcasing the talents of several acclaimed artists. Set to open to the public on Sept. 21-22 and Sept. 28-29, from 11 a.m.

Proceedings of Sept. 13 • Cindy M. Earley, 56, Oconto, pleaded no contest to misdemeanor charges of resisting or obstructing an officer and disorderly conduct.
