Chicago folk singer-songwriter Mark Dvorak will present a special coffee house concert at 7 p.m. March 13 at Beans & Books, 1235 E. Green Bay St., Shawano. Dvorak, who was named “Chicago’s Troubadour” by WFMT 98.7 FM fine arts radio, has sustained a career of performing, recording and teaching that has spanned more than 25 years.

Gerald Lee “Jerry” Schweigert, 72, of Marble Hill, Missouri, passed away Feb. 22, 2015, following a lengthy illness, at Woodland Hills Nursing Center in Marble Hill. Born in Villa Park, Illinois, on Oct. 1, 1942, he was the son of Lee William and Vera Josephine Tonkin Schweigert. Jerry spent his childhood years from age 4 through 14 on his parents’ farm in the Bonduel area. The family then moved to Hoffman Estates, Illinois.

Clarence John “Pussy” Priem, 96, passed away peacefully on Feb. 25, 2015. Clarence was born on March 20, 1918, in Washington Township, the son of John and Elsie Priem. On April 10, 1939, he was united in marriage to Elaine Hicks in the rectory of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shawano. He later converted to Catholicism and was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Mae Cecelia “Betty Ann” Kinney-Chevalier, 85, of Keshena, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 26, 2015, at her home surrounded by her family. She was the last full blooded Menominee Indian, born on June 16, 1929, on the Menominee Reservation to the late Louis and Cecelia (Opinesa) Kinney (Kiniew). In 1949, Mae was united in marriage to the late Gordon V. Chevalier at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Neopit.

Myra R. Vomastic, 90, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Feb. 26, 2015, at her home in Shawano. Myra was born Nov. 28, 1924, in Embarrass, a daughter of the late Gustave and Adelia (Schulz) Berndt. She attended country schools. On May 24, 1947, Myra was united in marriage to Harold Vomastic at Zion Lutheran Church in Embarrass. Following their marriage, the couple lived and farmed in the town of Waukechon.

A Shawano man who had already been remanded back to prison to finish out a life sentence for murder pleaded no contest Thursday to felony charges related to a domestic incident in the city last year. Randy L.

Shawano Police Department Feb. 26 Police logged 14 incidents, including the following: Harassment — Police responded to a harassment complaint in the 1100 block of South Lafayette Street. Theft — Tennis shoes were reported stolen in the 300 block of South Washington Street. Shoplifting — A 34-year-old man was taken into custody on a warrant after police responded to a shoplifting complaint at Walmart, 1244 E.

Hillcrest Primary School music teacher Craig Pynenberg was impressed with the turnout and participation at the school’s first annual Music Around the World concert Thursday night. The event, which was presented with the annual Showcase of Colors and Cultural Fair, drew more than 400 community members and nearly 140 students.

Helen Kallies is the president of the St. Martin of Tours Council of Catholic Women at St. Martin Church in Cecil, where she is a lifetime, third-generation member. Kallies was born in Newald, north of Laona. Her parents moved to Cecil when she was a baby. She graduated from Shawano High School and started work at Fort Howard in Green Bay. Kallies then went to work in Milwaukee at the Jos. Schlitz Brewing Co.
