Evelyn Esther Wronka, 98, of Shawano, passed away on Monday May 26, 2025, at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay. Evelyn was born on June 28, 1926, in Rosholt, to the late Leo and Helen (Buza) Jazdzewski. She was raised on a farm along with her eight siblings. Evelyn worked at American Motors during the war effort and recognized herself as one of the Rosie Riveters. She was united in marriage to Stanley Wronka in 1948.

It is with deep sorrow and love that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Michael Kallas. Mike passed unexpectedly on June 8, 2025, at the age of 62. Mike was born Sept. 9, 1962, in Bay View (Milwaukee) to Larry and Betty (Lewandowski) Kallas.

Lena’s Mason Belongia is the golfer of the year for 2025 in the Marinette & Oconto Conference. Joining him on the all-conference first team were teammates Copper Demmith and Mason Spice. Tanner Behnke and Vance Turecek were named to the second team. Lena was also the conference champion. In baseball, senior Tyler Shallow was the conference player of the year.

Lena’s Mason Belongia, who qualified for the state golf meet as an individual, finished the two-day event in a three-way tie for 13th place among Division 3 golfers. The WIAA boys championship was held June 9-10 at University Ridge Golf Course in Verona, near Madison. On the par-72 course, Belongia finished the first day with an 82, 10 strokes over pa and tied for 13th.

Lena and Wittenberg-Birnamwood baseball teams each came within a game of advancing to the state tournament, but each was defeated June 10 in their sectional final games. Division 3 Wittenberg-Birnamwood advanced to the sectional final after beating Oconto 3-0 at Chilton High School. Seeded at the top in their bracket, the Chargers moved on to face Kewaunee, second seed in its bracket, after Kewaunee beat Chilton 1-0. Kewaunee prevailed in the sec
