Kenneth K. Hagen

Kenneth K. Hagen, 81, of Shawano, passed away Thursday, March 5, 2020, at Evergreen Health Care Center. He was born June 11, 1938, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to the late Edwin and Ruth (Linner) Hagen. Ken went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Army; in addition, he went on to serve in the U.S. Army Reserve for seven years. On Feb. 22, 1957, Ken was united in marriage to Joyce Fahrendorff in Missouri. He worked for Midwest Breeders for over 40 years, managing the printing department. Ken was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano. He was an active part of his community, serving eight years on the Shawano city council as alderman, followed by many years of serving as a police and fire commissioner and four years as a Cub Scoutmaster. For over 35 years, Ken enjoyed playing cards one night every month with his sheepshead group. He also enjoyed playing cribbage, fishing and collecting coins. Ken loved his family dearly and enjoyed all of the time he was blessed to spend with them, especially his grandchildren. Ken is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Joyce; his sons, Jack (Sherry) Hagen, of Menomonie, Jeffrey (Susan) Hagen, of Waupaca, Jason Hagen, of Shawano, and Joseph Hagen, of Loyal; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Larry (Edith) Hagen, of South Dakota, and Ronald (Ava) Hagen, of Arkansas. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. A memorial service for Ken will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 13, 2020, at St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano with the Rev. Steve Schauder officiating. Inurnment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted at the church following the service by the Shawano American Legion Post 117.
