Parker again wins Late Model feature

Paul Parker made it two in a row by outdueling Ron Berna in the Late Model feature at Shawano Speedway on Saturday night. Brandon Czarapata once again won the IMCA Stock Car feature. He has won all but one of the feature events at the Speedway in 2013. Jasper Drengler won the Mighty 4s feature. Matt Oreskovich won his first feature of the year in the IMCA Modified division, while 14-year-old Lucas Lamberies won his first IMCA Northern SportMod feature. Late Model Mike Stangl grabbed the early lead in the Late Model feature and proceeded to pace the field for the first half of the race. Parker was in fifth at the end of the first lap and proceeded to advance to second by lap seven. He began closing the gap on Stangl midway through the race while Berna was also making his way to the front. Parker and Berna battled side-by-side with eight laps remaining with Parker maintaining the second spot. Two laps later Parker moved the outside of Stangl in corner four and took the lead. He led the rest of the way to win his second straight feature. He was followed by Berna, Stangl, Brett Swedberg and Nick Anvelink. IMCA Modified In the IMCA Modified feature, Oreskovich used his front row starting spot to take the early lead over Derek Kozak, Tom Schaal and John Berna. Jason Czarapata joined the top five on the next lap and made it a three-wide battle for the third spot a couple of laps later. Czarapata took control of the position and advanced to second on the next lap. The only caution flag came out on lap 10. Oreskovich and Czarapata immediately began pulling away from the field on the restart, with Czarapata glued to Oreskovich’s rear bumper. Czarapata dove to the inside of Oreskovich with five laps remaining but couldn’t make the pass. The two raced side-by-side for several laps, with Czarapata leading two of those laps. Oreskovich battled back on the outside and outdueled Czarapata for the win. Schall, Brad Rohloff and Mark Weisnicht rounded out the top five. IMCA Stock Car Justin Jacobsen took the lead from Luke Uttecht on the third lap of the IMCA Stock Car feature. Jacobsen led for three laps when Rod Snellenberger took the lead. Snellenberger, Brandon Czarapata and Jacobsen raced in a pack for several more laps. Czarapata took the lead just past the halfway point of the race. Snellenberger stayed with Czarapata and Dan Michonski joined the fray, charging on the outside. Michonski grabbed the runner-up spot with six laps remaining. Michonski pulled up to Czarapata’s rear bumper several times but could not make the pass. Czarapata took the win over Michonski, Snellenberger, Jacobsen and Mitch Stankowski. IMCA Northern SportMod Lamberies took the lead from Jordan Bartz on the second lap of the IMCA Northern SportMod feature. Lamberies then pulled out to a small lead over Bartz, Jason Jach, Cody Hokenstad and Jake Solin. Jach moved to second on lap five and began gaining on Lamberies. With Lamberies still leading with seven laps remaining, Hokenstad passed Jach for second. He pulled up to Lamberies’ rear bumper with four laps remaining. Hokenstad gave it all he could on the last lap trying to get by Lamberies on the outside at the checkers, but Lamberies won by a car length. Mighty 4s Drengler took the lead of the Mighty 4s feature with a three-wide pass for the lead on lap five. Calvin Stueck pressured Drengler for position for several laps, but Drengler was up to the challenge and won the race. Racing action continues at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Shawano Speedway.
