Hawks dominate Denmark The Shawano Community High School boys soccer team blasted Denmark 9-0 in a Bay Conference match Tuesday in Denmark. Chance VanDyck and Garret Schlise each had three goals for Shawano (7-1-1, 4-0-0 Bay). Schlise also had an assist. Zach Dickmann had a goal and four assists. Sawyer Buck and Braden Mueller had a goal each. Craig Kraning had an assist. Mike Meisner had a calm day tending the Hawks’ goal as the Shawano defense never allowed Denmark (0-10-0, 0-3-0 Bay) a shot on goal. Shawano loses Bay volleyball opener The Shawano Community High School girls volleyball team lost its Bay Conference opener, 3-0, Tuesday to Luxemburg-Casco. Shawano lost 25-13, 25-16, 25-12. Isabella Gonzalez had eight kills and four blocks. Erika Dunnam had five kills. Annelies Young had 11 assists, and Haley Going had 12 digs. Shawano tennis team gets win The Shawano Community High School girls tennis team beat Marinette 5-2 Tuesday in Marinette. Shawano’s Libby Buettner defeated Marinette’s Rachel Tupper 6-1, 7-6 (9-7). Isabelle Carroll beat Amanda Pieper (6-2, 6-2). Holly Schwecke topped Abby Denmith (6-0, 6-1). Shawano’s only singles loss came from Molly Haas, who lost to McKenzee Tibbits (6-4, 7-5). In doubles action, the Hawks’ No. 2 doubles team of Shania Skalitzky and Nicki Ainsworth defeated Kimmie Kenitz and Kaitlyn Berkebill (6-2, 6-4). The No. 3 doubles team of Sara Hockenstad and Meghan Hoffman beat Megan Padgett and Katlyn Lange (6-0, 6-2). Shawano’s No. 1 doubles team of Kathryn Kugel and Kelly Mastey lost to Alexis Denowski and Dyllan Finger (6-3, 6-1). Gresham third at Wildcat tournament The Gresham High School volleyball team took third at the Wildcat volleyball tournament Saturday in Gresham. The Wildcats beat Bowler (25-16, 25-16, 25-13) and Elcho (25-23, 26-24, 18-25) and lost to Manawa (16-25, 16-25, 16-25). Elcho took first place, followed by Manawa. Gresham’s Nande Carroll had 32 points and 38 assists on the day. Nicole Creapeau had 17 digs. Brittny Andrews had 13 kills and Brianna Stehberger had 19 points and 18 kills. Chargers finish 7th in cross-country The Wittenberg-Birnamwood High School boys and girls cross-country teams both finished seventh Tuesday at the Evergreen Invitational in Wausau. The Chargers boys were led by Dustin Tomso’s 27th-place finish in 18:56.90. The girls were led by Alexis Balliett, who finished 27th in 22:43.60. Stevens Point won both the girls and boys meets. Bears 7th at Mid Vallee The Bonduel High School girls golf team finished seventh at an Eastern Conference golf meet Tuesday at Mid Vallee Golf Course in De Pere. Samantha Schaal led the Bears with a round of 51. Taylor Diemel shot a 54, Danielle Lautenbach 58, Elizabeth Schaal 61 and Sam Inman 68. The medalist was Fox Valley Lutheran’s Kayla Priebe, who shot a 1-under par 34 to help the Foxes win the meet. Bears lose to Chargers The Bonduel High School volleyball team lost to Wittenberg-Birnamwood in three games Tuesday in Wittenberg. The Chargers won 25-21, 25-13, 25-20. Micah Nier led Wittenberg-Birnamwood (3-0) with 17 kills. Taylor Bushman added 13 kills and nine digs. Hannah Buntrock had seven kills and Madi Bushman had 37 assists. Jenni Dowden led Bonduel (1-2) with 17 digs and eight kills. Miranda Schmidt had 10 assists. Gresham tops Bowler in volleyball The Gresham High School volleyball team beat Bowler 3-1 Tuesday in Gresham. Gresham (1-1) beat Bowler (0-3) 28-26, 19-25, 25-14, 26-24. Gresham’s Nande Carroll had 20 assists. Brittny Andrews had 12 kills. Lindsey Anderson had four blocks. Brianna Stehberger had 19 points. Tigerton sweeps Marion The Tigerton High School volleyball team beat Marion 3-0 in a Central Wisconsin Conference-10 match Tuesday in Marion. Tigerton (2-1) beat Marion (1-2) 25-20, 25-21, 25-22. Tigerton’s Katie Watters had nine points and eight kills. Erin Robbins had 17 assists. Emily Wendt had eight points. Marion’s Jessica Reminger had 13 assists, eight points and four kills. Bryce Miller had nine points and 26 digs. McKenzie Thoma had nine kills, 14 digs and seven blocks. Wildcats top Amherst The Gresham/Bowler high school boys soccer team beat Amherst 5-1 Tuesday in Amherst. Austin Olson had three goals, while Drew Payne and Scott Cerveny knocked in a goal each. Neil Cerveny had three saves in goal for Gresham/Bowler (6-4). Shawano fifth at Northbrook The Shawano Community High School girls golf team took fifth Tuesday at a Bay Conference meet at Northbrook Country Club in Luxemburg. Megan Beck led the Hawks with a 50. Courtney Baumann shot a 51, Julia Beck 55, Emily Smith 58, Cheyenne Knueppel 66. Marinette’s Abby Dufrane shot a 2-over par 38 to help her team to a first-place finish. Gresham/Bowler third in tourney The Gresham/Bowler boys soccer team went 1-2 at the Wildcat tournament Saturday in Gresham. Pacelli (12-0, 6-0 Mid-State) went 3-0, including a 4-2 win over Gresham/Bowler, to win the tourney. Gresham/Bowler (6-4) beat Antigo 4-1 and lost to Clintonville 1-0. Scott Cerveny, Drew Payne and Austin Olson each had two goals for Gresham/Bowler. Walker Miller had an assist and seven saves in goal against Pacelli. Neil Cerveny had five saves in the other three games. Clintonville (1-8, 0-4 Eastern Valley) finished second with a 2-1 record. Antigo (0-11, 0-5 Great Northern) finished fourth, going 0-3.
