Maxine M. Bente, 69, of the town of Wescott, Shawano, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Friday evening, Sept. 13, 2013, at the Theda Clark Regional Medical Center in Neenah. Maxine was born on Dec. 19, 1943, in Green Bay, a daughter of the late Lester and Rose (Cooper) Skenandore.
Maxine attended West De Pere High School and later, Milwaukee Vocational School. On Nov. 13, 1962, she was united in marriage to Ken Bente in Waukegan, Ill. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Milwaukee until 1974.
Maxine along with her family then moved to West Bend. While living in West Bend, Maxine was employed at the West Bend YMCA, a job she truly loved. The couple relocated to the town of Wescott in 2000. Maxine spent most of her time as wife, mother and homemaker, staying home to care for her family.
Maxine was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed knitting and crocheting and also was an avid painter. She had a great eye for interior decorating as well. Maxine was an excellent story teller and had a great sense of humor. She was a warm-hearted and caring person who will be missed by all who knew her.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Ken Bente, of the town of Wescott, her three children, Stephanie (Joseph) Prescott, of Pinellas Park, Fla., Laurie (Tim) Arndt, of Huntersville, N.C., and Thomas Bente (special friend Tammy Freund), of Fond du Lac; nine grandchildren and one great-grandson; three brothers, Reggie Skenandore, Kenny Skenandore and Roger (Donna) Skenandore; nine sisters, Dorothy Gruetzmacher, Gerry Weller, Pat (Jack) Whitson, Mary (Bob) Gaetz, Judy Skenandore, Janice Prohazka, Jacqui (Donn) Pozan, Suzy (Dave) Martinson and Kathy Skenandore; and a very special nephew, Steve (Kathy) Bransted. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Kenneth, in infancy; one daughter, Kimberly Bente; and two brothers, William and Ronnie Skenandore.
In keeping with her wishes, private family funeral services have been held.
