Gary R. Abendroth

Gary Roy Abendroth, 59, Beaver Dam, died peacefully on Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013, after a short battle with cancer with his loving wife at his side every step of the way. Gary was born in Appleton on Oct. 27, 1953, to Paul F. and Adele M. (Vandenberg) Abendroth. He served his country honorably in the United States Army from 1973-1979. Gary had also enjoyed being a disc jockey for 16 years with his best friend, Jeff Cole. Gary married the love of his life, Judy K. Fabert, on June 24, 2000. They spent 13 years together doing many crazy and wonderful things. Gary is survived by his loving wife, Judy; his only son, Paul F. Abendroth (Angela), and grandsons Austin and Spencer Abendroth, of Appleton; his stepdaughters, Sheila Newman and her children, Samantha and Cody, and Nancy Grimes and her daughters, Katelyn and Maddie. He is further survived by three siblings, P. John (Jean) Abendroth, of Shawano, Sandy (Richard) Dietz, of New London, and Julie (Donald) Dewhurst, of Hortonville; brother-in-law, Calvin Fabert; and his faithful companion Daisy. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and friends. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Adele; stepfather, Walter Manteuffel; mother- and father-in-law; and brothers-in-law, Douglas Smith and Edward Fabert. Memorial service for Gary will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013, at Peace Lutheran Church, 400 Hillcrest Drive, Beaver Dam, with the Rev. Mark Wenzel and the Rev. Bruce Meier officiating. A visitation and a time for remembering will also be held on Thursday, Oct. 17, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Military honors for Gary will follow the service. The family would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the care givers, doctors and nurses, especially Lisa and Kathy, and family and friends who have so thoughtfully helped during this very difficult time.
