Bonnie L. Young, 67, of the town of Washington, passed away Friday, Feb. 7, 2014, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born on June 7, 1946, in Shawano, she was the daughter of the late Edgar and Hope (Mahn) Seidler.
On Sept. 4, 1965, Bonnie was united in marriage to Robert H. Young at the St. John’s United Church of Christ in Cecil. She worked for Shawano Equity and was a member of the St. John’s United Church of Christ, in Cecil, where she was a former vice president. She also started the Cecil Community Closet, for which she won an award. Bonnie loved being a mother and adored all children, including the kids in the neighborhood who affectionately refer to her as Nonnie. She loved being active and enjoyed riding her bike, swimming, sewing and reading.
Bonnie is survived by her husband of 48 years, Robert; three daughters, Dawn (Gregg Seitz) Young, of Alexandria, Va., Jennifer (Tom) Hutchraft, of Shawano, Melissa (Patrick Hill) Young, of De Pere; three granddaughters, Sabrina Brzezinski, Racheal Hutchcraft, Hannah Hutchcraft; two grandsons, Xanatos Thimke, Zechariah Thimke; two stepgrandchildren, Chris Hutchcraft, Neil Hutchcraft; three great-stepgrandchildren, Calvin Hutchcraft, Kate Hutchcraft, Lana Hutchcraft; two adopted grandsons, Maxwell and Harrison Mueller; and two sisters, Jeanne Klemp and Kim Jackson, both of Shawano.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014, at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Cecil with the Rev. Moira Finley officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Inurnment will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery in the spring.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, the family asks that donations be made in Bonnie’s memory to the Fox Valley Brain Tumor Coalition.
