Barbara L. Schneider, 76, of Shawano, and formerly of Plymouth, passed away early Friday morning, Aug. 15, at Rocky Knoll Health Care Facility, where she had been a resident for the past year.
Barb was born on April 4, 1938, in Green Bay, a daughter of the late Clarence and Mabel Neabling Krablean. She graduated from Neenah High School and attended Milwaukee Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing. On Oct. 5, 1957, she married Gerald Schneider at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Neenah. The couple resided in Plymouth following their marriage and moved to Shawano in their retirement in 2002.
Barb was employed at Rocky Knoll Health Care Facility and worked for Dr. J.L. Hizon and Dr. Karl Riem, both of Sheboygan. Her husband preceded her in death on Oct. 6, 2008. She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Plymouth. Barb enjoyed cooking and golf and belonged to the Crystal Lake Wednesday afternoon Golf League.
Survivors include four children, Debbie (Bill) Holz, of Plymouth, Linda (Mike) Skelton, of the town of New Holstein, Judy (Mike) Gumieny, of Elkhart Lake, David (Mary) Schneider, of Plymouth, Minnesota; eight grandchildren, Nicole (Brian) Steiner, of Plymouth, Nathan Volkomener (fianceé, Samantha Gatzke), of Plymouth, Jason Skelton, of Madison, Kari Skelton, (fiancé, Brad Carter), of Midland, Texas, Lindsay (Tate) Abler, of Plymouth, Clinton Gumieny, of Elkhart Lake, Andrew and Benjamin Schneider, of Plymouth, Minnesota; two stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren and three great-stepgrandchildren. She is also survived by many other relatives and friends.
Barb was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Timothy Mark Schneider; one great-grandson, Owen Gordon Abler; two brothers and one sister-in-law.
Private family services will be held at the Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth. The Rev. James Wilson, pastor of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Plymouth will officiate. Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery in Plymouth.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in her name.
