Bevelyn I. Thorne, 82, of Oconto Falls, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2014, in Oconto Falls. Born on Nov. 24, 1931, in Hillsboro, she was the daughter of the late Bryon and Garnet (Revels) Moody.
On Nov. 19, 1960, Bevelyn and Oscar S. Thorne were united in marriage. The couple was blessed with one son. Bevelyn was a former member of the River Valley Church, formerly known as Shawano Assembly of God Church. She and Oscar loved doing mission work together. She did mission work with the Assembly of God in both Morgan Siding and Keshena. Bevelyn also loved to help out with children’s ministry. She will be most remembered as a generous woman with a kind heart and will be missed by all who knew her.
Bevelyn is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Nathan and Martha Thorne, of Antigo; her siblings, Betty Tharpe, of Oconto Falls, Bethyl (Roland) Peckham, of Nekoosa, Belva (Erich) Milchner, of Oconto Falls, and Byron “Bud” Moody, of Port Edwards.
Bevelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar, on April 18, 2010; one sister, Berkie Ferkey; and one infant brother, Merit Moody.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 26, 2014, at the River Valley Church in Shawano with the Rev. Dan Taylor officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Inurnment will be in the Lake Drive Cemetery in the town of Wescott.
