WEEK AHEAD
VOLLEYBALL
WHAT: Bonduel vs. Gillett
WHEN: 7 p.m. Thursday
WHERE: Bonduel High School
WHY IT MATTERS: The nonconference matchup between Bonduel and Gillett has turned into a fundraising tradition. The annual “Dig for a Cure” has Bonduel (3-2 Central Wisconsin Conference-8) and Gillett (1-5 Marinette & Oconto) competing on the court and off. The players will raise money before, during and after the match to help a local family battling cancer. There will also be raffles and a silent auction with baskets donated by local businesses and families.
FOOTBALL
WHAT: Shawano at Marinette
WHEN: 7 p.m. Friday
WHERE: Marinette High School
WHY IT MATTERS: The Shawano Community High School football team got back in the W column last week with a big win against Oconto Falls. Stringing together back-to-back conference wins by taking down Marinette on the road Friday could be key for Shawano (3-2, 2-2 Bay Conference). Seymour (2-3, 2-2 Bay), which travels to undefeated West De Pere (5-0, 5-0 Bay), and Luxemburg-Casco (4-1, 3-1 Bay), which hosts undefeated Menasha (5-0, 5-0 Bay), could both be taking a step back this week, allowing Shawano a chance to move up in the standings.
