Eugene Breitrick

Eugene “Gene” Breitrick, 83, Green Bay, passed away Oct. 1, 2014. Born on Oct. 3, 1930, he was the son of the late Everett and Emily Breitrick. Gene graduated from Shawano High School Class of 1949. He served in the United States Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. Gene married Carol Laehn on Sept. 5, 1953, and she preceded him in death on Jan. 26, 2000. He worked at Pauly Cheese for 20 years. Gene was an active member of First United Church of Christ and volunteered for Feed the Hungry at his church and the Salvation Army. He was a wonderful father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Gene loved music, the outdoors, Packers and, most of all times, spent with family. He is survived by his six children, Toni (Dan) Derpinghaus, Dawn (Greg) Meyers, Wendi (Brian) Tomcheck, Scott Breitrick, Joel (Traci) Breitrick and Gene (Crystal) Breitrick; 12 grandchildren, Jason (Jenni) Derpinghaus, Traci (Chris) McKenzie, Amber (Bill) Schumacher, Jacob Meyers, Brad (Alicia) Tomcheck, Courtney (Brad) Shipman, Mattaja (Brendan) Maccaux, Matthew and Miranda Breitrick, Rachel, Holly and Alex Breitrick; seven great-grandchildren and one on the way, Willow and Auggie Derpinghaus, Anthony, Elizabeth and Emma McKenzie, and Kylie and Madison Schumacher; two brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law, Gary Laehn, Bill (Jean) Laehn and Joan Laehn; best friends of over 70 years, Swede, Buzz and Dave. Gene was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Carol, four siblings and their spouses. Visitation will be at First United Church of Christ, 509 S. Webster Ave., Green Bay, Monday, Oct. 6, from 9 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Dr. Robert Laubenstein officiating. Malcore (East) Funeral Home, 701 N.
