I read an article in one of my magazines titled “40 Things I’ve Learned in 40 Years.”
I especially liked this one: Take all of your loose photos and toss them in a box. Photo albums are way too boring to flip through. It’s more fun for family to pull various photos out in no particular order and share the memory. It’s memory potluck!
All right! Now I don’t have to feel guilty about all those photos I already have in boxes that I’ve been meaning to put in albums at some point in my life. Memory potluck — I love it.
Our play “Rest Assured” was well-received by our audiences, and also was enjoyed by Warren Gerds, critic at large out of Green Bay. He attended the show the first weekend. The cast had a good time together, with ages ranging from teenager to senior. I hope you had a chance to see the show.
Next up is our annual Christmas show on Saturday, Dec. 6, at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 7, at 2 p.m. Again, admission is a free-will offering, which is given to two local charitable organizations. Director Denise Riley has named the event “Home Town Christmas.” Her musical director is Miriam Nelson. A short, one-act play titled “Long Live Christmas” will be a part of the program.
This play requires a large cast of children and adults, with each character having only a few lines to memorize. So this is a great time to have the whole family take part! Denise also needs singers, musicians and backstage volunteers.
Before and after the play, there will be chorus singing, musical acts and soloists. Join the holiday fun. Attend the organizational meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 15, at 7 p.m. at the Mielke Arts Center.
Looking ahead to 2015, “M*A*S*H” will be our spring show, “Clue, the Musical” our summer production, and “The Devil and Daniel Webster” in the fall. A great lineup.
Our next meeting of the Box in the Wood Theatre Guild will be held on Monday, Nov. 3, at 7 p.m. at the Mielke Arts Center. Elections will be held for vice president and treasurer as well as a new board member. If you are a guild member, please come and vote for your officers and board members. We need you.
