Colette T. Thompson, 69, of Shawano, died on Thursday, Nov. 13, 2014. Born on April 17, 1945 in Shawano, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Colette (Spitzer) Heinz.
On May 29, 1965, Colette was united in marriage to David A. Thompson, who preceded her in death on Feb. 5, 2004. Colette was known by many from her numerous years of employment at Martin Jewelers and the former Thimke Jewelers. She loved spending time during the summers at her Anderson Lake cottage – enjoying many sunsets, watching the loons and feeding the ducks, as well as pontoon rides and campfires with family, friends and neighbors. Colette also delighted in her motorcycle rides through the Rocky Mountains with her son, Paul. Throughout the years, Colette often spoke of her beloved cats as well as her cherished neighbors, Roland and Colleen, Frank and Pat, and good friend, Percy Schwerke. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shawano.
Colette is survived by her sons, Paul (Cathi) Thompson, of Madison, David Thompson, of Green Bay; her granddaughters, Evelyn and Eleanor; her brother, Paul (Mildred) Heinz ,of Florida; her sisters, Shirley (Howard) Hertz, of Clintonville, and Dorothy (Charlie) Lehn, of De Pere.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David; her daughter, Mary; and her parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 17, 2014, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shawano with the Rev. Luke Ferris officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 4-7 p.m. at the Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano and again at the church on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery.
