The Rev. Dennis N. Nelson has returned as pastor of Zion Lutheran Church, Tigerton.
Nelson served the church from 1981-1993. After leaving Tigerton, he served churches in Gillett, Marshfield, Fairwater, Manawa, Ogdensburg and Menasha. He returned to Zion, effective Jan. 1.
Nelson is a 1981 graduate of Luther Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota. He also has a master’s degree in guidance and counseling from the University of Wisconsin-Stout. He was a teacher and student services administrator before being called to the ministry. Nelson also served his country with two years of military service in the Army, including a one-year tour of duty in Vietnam with the 1st Infantry Division. He is a native of Cut Bank, Montana, and a graduate of Concordia College, Moorhead, Minnesota.
Nelson and his wife of 45 years, Marah, live in Shawano. They enjoy travel, camping, outdoor recreation and reading. They have two adult sons.
Nelson has experience with 12-step programs and helping people deal with those issues.
