Preparations continue for ‘M*A*S*H’ performances

The Box in the Wood Theatre Guild held its monthly meeting, and Nat Madsen, director of “M*A*S*H” reported that 200 seats will be set up for the production. On opening night, Shawano AMVETS Post 10 has booked 150 seats, so there will be only 50 seats available for sale for that night. Needless to say, all other seven performances will have seats available. Reservations are being taken on the phone line at 715-526-2525 and online at www.shawanoarts.com. Ticket outlets are the Shawano Country and Clintonville chamber of commerce offices. Adult tickets are $12; youth under 18 are $7. Mark the show dates on your calendar: 7 p.m. April 23, 24, 25, 30 and May 1, 2; 2 p.m. April 26 and May 3. Our baker extraordinaire, Denise Riley, will create Hot Lips Lemon, Radar Grape NEHI and Red Cross Red Velvet cupcakes to be sold at intermission. We sampled the Hot Lips Lemon at the meeting and it was unanimously approved by the members! The Box in the Wood Theatre Guild will hold its meetings at the Mielke Arts Center, in the Green Room, beginning April 6. We had been meeting at the courthouse over the winter months. The Shawano County Arts Council will also hold its monthly meetings in the Green Room. Auditions for “Clue the Musical,” our summer musical running July 9-12 and 16-19, will be held at 6 p.m. April 27 and April 28 at the Mielke Arts Center. The cast includes four men and four women, with singing voices required. Bring the music for your audition song selection. Also needed is a piano player, which is a paid position. Contact Brandon Byng, director, at 920-737-8620. Lastly, I have to plug the Shawano-Menominee Relay for Life, which takes place March 28 at the Shawano Community High School. As most of you know, I’m a breast cancer survivor. I’ve been a part of the relay since 2008. I’ve also been a promoter of a yearly mammogram for women over 45, especially if there’s a history of breast cancer in your family. I believe the mammogram saved my life, and it might save yours. Make an appointment today. You can donate to the Relay for Life by logging onto main.acsevents.org; then click on donate and the participant or team you want to support. You can also send your check made out to The American Cancer Society to me. Thank you!
