“Be faithful unto death and I will give thee the crown of life." Rev. 2:10
On Wednesday, May 6, 2015, Jesus called the soul of Bob Breitenbach to be with Him for eternity. Bob died at Bellin Hospital after losing a battle with a staph infection.
Bob was born on June 12, 1936, in Merrill to Russell and Shirley (King) Breitenbach. After attending Merrill schools and graduating from Merrill High School, he enlisted in the USAF, where he served honorably from 1954-1958. After returning from service, he met and married Judith M. Schave on July 30, 1958 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Merrill and raised two daughters. One of his lifelong interests was flying, and in his younger years, he not only held a pilot’s license, but enjoyed parachuting as well. Bob was a proud member of the Heat and Frost Union Local No. 127. Above all, Bob loved his family and always strived to be a good example of a Christian husband and father. Everything he had, he shared with anyone who needed it.
Bob is survived by his wife of 56 years, Judith; two daughters, Susan (John) Flauger, of Shawano, and Denise (Harold) Marks, of De Soto; two grandchildren, Harold T. Marks and Hannah Marks (fiancé, James Walecki); six great-grandchildren, Elliot and Natalie, children of Harold T. Marks, Kyla and Alexis, children of Robert Marks, and Trinity and Uriah, children of Hannah Marks. He is further survived by two brothers, Russell, of Suamico, and Richard, of Oshkosh.
He was preceded in death by one grandson, Robert Marks, and his parents.
Memorial services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 14, 2015, at Divine Savior Lutheran Church in Shawano with the Rev. Paul Kuehn officiating. Burial was in St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery in Pella Opening. Military honors were conducted by American Legion Post 117. There was no visitation prior to the service.
Swedberg Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
