3 new directors join SCAF board

The Shawano Area Community Foundation has added three new members to its board of directors: Todd Swedberg, Char Larsen and Curt Knoke. Swedberg is a graduate of Shawano High School. He continued his education at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, where he earned a degree in psychology, and Milwaukee Area Technical College, where he earned an associate degree in mortuary science. Swedberg works as a licensed funeral director at Swedberg Funeral Homes in Shawano. He is married to Sarah (Meyers) Swedberg. They have three children. Larsen is a certified financial planner investment consultant for Premier Investment Services at Premier Community Bank in Shawano. Larsen has been in the financial services industry for over 20 years. She is active on the Shawano Country Chamber of Commerce board of directors and has previously been involved with Shawano County Economic Progress Inc. and Junior Achievement. Larsen and her husband, Ted, have three grown children and three granddaughters. Knoke is a retired business owner. He and a partner started Image Studios Inc., a commercial and advertising photography studio in Appleton, in 1964. Upon his retirement in 1996, Knoke and his wife, Martha, moved to the Gresham area and became involved in the community. In 1999, Knoke began his first term on the SACF board, serving as president from 2003-2009 and marketing consultant thereafter. Knoke also serves on the boards of the Gresham Scholarship Fund and the Gresham Area Advancement Association. He has two grown children. The SACF also thanked departing board members Lorna Marquardt, mayor of Shawano, and Katherine Sloma, attorney at Aschenbrener, Woods, Lamia, Schmid, Chereskin & Sloma SC. SCAF is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. It was established in 1990 by community volunteers to preserve and improve the quality of life in Shawano and the surrounding area. It is an affiliate of the Appleton-based Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region, the second-largest community foundation in Wisconsin.
