Jeff Coopman, 65, Oconto Falls, died Sunday evening, Sept. 7, 2014, at a Green Bay hospital following a short illness with cancer. He was born Sept. 14, 1948, in Oconto Falls to Donald “Coopie” and Joyce (Gunderson) Coopman.
Jeff grew up in Stiles before moving with his family to Oconto Falls, where he attended eighth grade at St. Anthony School and graduated from high school with the Class of 1966. He went on to attend the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and graduated with a business degree from Northeast Wisconsin Technical College.
On Jan. 18, 1974, he married Vicki Pytleski at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spruce. Jeff lived in the Oconto Falls area for all of his life. He once helped his father in the family fuel business and also owned and operated his own medical transport business for many years.
He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Oconto Falls. Jeff also was an avid trap shooter and competed in leagues in Oconto Falls and the surrounding area. He also enjoyed following college football, especially the Wisconsin Badgers.
Survivors are his wife, Vicki Coopman, Oconto Falls; one daughter, Amy (Dennis “Buck”) Skalitzky, Morgan; five siblings, Tom (Cheryl) Coopman, Waukesha, and Cathy Coopman, Carla (Andy) Marquardt, Jim Coopman, Marty Coopman, all of Oconto Falls; his in-laws, Bill and Carol Pytleski; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jeff (Cheryl) Pytleski, Jim (Janet) Pytleski, all of Spruce, Jane (Donald) Hoffman, Coleman; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister-in-law, Beth Coopman.
Visitation will be held after 9 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 11, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Oconto Falls until the time of service. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church with the Rev. Joel Sember officiating. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, town of Spruce.
