Jim Ama

Jim “Grampa” Ama, 65, Green Bay, died peacefully at his residence on Sept. 27, 2014, surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on May 31, 1949, in Oconto Falls, he was the son of the late Dario and Yeoland (Krause) Ama. Jim was a 1967 graduate of Oconto Falls High School and obtained his associate degree in transportation from Northeast Wisconsin Technical College. On Oct. 18, 1975, he married the former Mary Moudry at Grace Lutheran in Oconto Falls. Jim worked at US Paper Mill in De Pere until he was injured on the job, then dedicated the remainder of his life caring for his beloved grandchildren. He had a passion for woodworking and loved camping with his family. Jim was also an avid Wisconsin sports (Packers, Badgers and Brewers) fan. Jim is survived by his loving wife, Mary; two children, Tina and Cole Jacobsen, Oneida, Heather and Barry Mollen, Green Bay; three grandchildren, Drew Jacobsen and Bailey and Braeden Mollen; two brothers, Larry Ama, Mineral Wells, Texas, and Corey Ama, Lena; one sister-in-law, Jo Ann and Jerry Bornman; several cousins, nieces and a nephew; his “special mother,” Judy Ama; and his “chosen” camping family. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Ricky Ama and Dan Ama; one sister, Jackie Ama; one brother-in-law, Rick Moudry; one uncle, Ranny Ama; and one aunt, Nathlie Martens. Visitation was held Wednesday, Oct. 1, at Calvary Lutheran Church, 1301 S. Ridge Road, Green Bay, from 3 p.m. until the time of the funeral. The funeral service was held at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1, at the church with the Rev. Earl E. Vorpagel III officiating. Burial will occur in Woodlawn Cemetery in Oconto Falls.
