Friedman 5th, Wolf 11th at Tomahawk invite
Oconto Falls High School senior Mike Friedman notched a fifth-place finish among 97 competitors at the 38th annual Hatchet Invitational held on the Edgewater Golf Course in Tomahawk on Saturday.
Friedman posted a time of 16 minutes, 31.09 seconds. Senior Michael Fifield placed 19th in 17:18.48. Coming across the finish line five minutes later was sophomore Evan Konitzer.
Bailey Wolf captured 11th among 101 girls, finishing in 15:59.8. Sophomores Diane Moore (32) and Ashley Keuken (33) were second and third among Oconto Falls runners with times of 17:14.93 and 17:19.94 seconds, respectively.

Junior Alyssa Nelson notched a team-high 23 service aces, along with 18 digs and two blocks, for Oconto Falls in its win (25-27, 25-18, 25-13, 25-16))Thursday.
Mikaela Thomson produced 21 service aces, with a 100 percent serving percentage, and had 43 assists. Thomson contributed on defense with eight digs and one block.
McKayla Johnson was the key defensive contributor with 34 receptions and 35 digs. She also had 15 service aces.
Emily Kilmer had 14 service aces, 16 kills and had nine digs for the Panthers. Shelby Coron and Kayla Virtues each had five blocks. Coron had 12 kills and three digs, while Virtus pitched in with 11 service aces, 11 kills and four digs.
Senior Elizabeth Manns produced 13 receptions and 10 digs. Codie Muthig had 20 digs and 12 service aces.

The victory put Suring (11-2) in second place in the Marinette & Oconto Conference and dropped St. Thomas Aquinas to 1-12 for the season.
Courtney Heimerl led Suring with 22 assists, and also contributed four digs and had two spikes, in its win (25-23, 25-13, 25-18) Thursday. Leading the Eagles in digs was Brooke Gauthier, who also had 11 spikes.
Other contributors for Suring were Makenzie LaMarre, 19 digs and a service ace; Katie Stegeman, eight kills, three blocks and one dig; Az VanBellinger, two service aces, five spikes and 13 digs; Breanna Tienor, 10 assists and three service aces.; Darian Bowman, two spikes, two blocks, one dig; Mikaela Reed, two digs; Amber Trudell, one dig; Lily Luerquin, two digs.
The Titans’ leaders were Mille Benson with 26 assists and two spikes; Linsey Hannon, 23 digs and three service aces; Molly Linczeski, two spikes, one block, 12 digs, one assist.

Victoria Loberger contributed a game-high 10 kills along with two service aces, nine digs and two blocks Thursday in Gillett’s victory (20-25, 25-15, 25-11, 25-18).
Gillett (2-11) is tied for seventh place in the Marinette & Oconto Conference.
Gillett’s Jessica Anderson and Maddy Wilbur each contributed 16 assists. Anderson also had four kills, two service aces and 11 digs. Wilbur had seven digs, four service aces, one kill and one block. Other key contributors were Maya Breed, with eight kills, six service aces and 10 digs, and Miranda Ness, with five kills, two service aces and 10 digs.
Lena’s Christina Jagiello had a game-high 11 blocks and also accumulated seven kills, three digs and a service ace. Nike Saldana and Hailey Salter each had 10 assists. Saldana also had two kills and seven digs. Salter added three kills, six digs and two service aces.
