Lucille Blahnik, 88, of Spruce, passed away Friday evening, March 6, 2015, at her home. Born to Everett and Elna Piper, she was a lifelong member of St. Mark Ev. Lutheran Church of Spruce.
Lucille was a graduate of Oconto Falls High School, Class of 1944, and attended Northeast Wisconsin Technical College prior to employment with Wisconsin Public Service in Green Bay.
Lucille was united in marriage with Milton J. Blahnik in 1947. Together they raised their family and operated a dairy farm in Spruce, retiring from farming in 1985. Active in her community, Lucille was a member of the Pine Hill Cemetery Association Board and St. Mark Ladies’ Aid. Throughout the years, she was a member of the CMH Women’s Auxiliary, taught Sunday school, served as 4-H leader of the Spruce Aces and volunteered for the American Heart Association, Oconto County Home Respite and the Oconto County Fair, where she also exhibited.
A loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, her interests included gardening, baking, oil painting, travel and success of the Green Bay Packers.
Lucille is survived by her children, Kathy (George) Mauldin, of Dover, Tennessee, Mark (Sue) Blahnik, of Sun Prairie, Dale Blahnik, of Oshkosh, Glenn (Becky) Blahnik, of Seymour, and Beth (Alan) Wolf, of Madison; grandchildren, Karl Mauldin, Katie (Trevor) Meyer, Maggie, Ryan, Seth, Gina (fiancé Sam Phelps), Dana, Michael and Eric Blahnik; great-grandchildren, Kadyn, Petra and Arlo Mauldin, and Addie and Quinn Meyer; sister, Carol Jossie, and sister-in law, Audrey Piper, both of Oconto Falls. She is further survived by nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Milton, in 1988; brother, Earl Piper; brothers-in-law, Harvey Jossie, Edward Blahnik, Charles McNabb and Arnold Olson; and sisters-in-law, Mabel Blahnik, Charlotte Olson and Betty McNabb.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, March 11, at Jones Funeral Service in Oconto Falls. Visitation will continue after 9:30 a.m. Thursday, March 12, at the funeral home until the time of service. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Ryan Landwehr officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery, Spruce.
Memorials may be made in Lucille’s name to St. Mark Ev. Lutheran Church of Spruce or to a charity of personal choice.
Lucille’s children express their sincere appreciation to her caring friends and extended family who helped her so kindly over the years and to her Unity Hospice Team for its compassionate assistance in her final days.
