Residents in the Oconto Falls School District are encouraged to complete an online survey to share their views regarding the qualities of the next school superintendent. The survey is available until Friday.
Superintendent Dave Polashek will retire June 30, and the School Board is gathering feedback from the community in its search for a replacement, who will start work July 1.
The survey is designed to be completed in less than 10 minutes and includes questions regarding the strengths of the school district and the challenges it faces, desirable attributes of a school superintendent and goals the school district should accomplish within the next three years.
The board will review the survey data and compile a profile of the ideal candidate when it meets Monday.
According to Polashek, the position is receiving lot of attention. Five applications were received within days of posting. The deadline for applications is April 17.
On April 21, the School Board is scheduled to meet with its consultant to read through the applications and select the top six candidates to interview. Interviews are scheduled April 30, with finalists returning May 7 for a second interview.
Two committees will assist the School Board with making a final decision on May 7. According to Polashek, one committee will be composed of community members and school staff. The second committee will include employees who report directly to the superintendent, such as members of the district office staff.
If the process remains on schedule, the new superintendent will be introduced at the School Board meeting May 11.
