Brenda Lowrance, a 1983 graduate of Oconto Falls High School, has been named a Mountain West region finalist in the clinical care, inpatient category for the 2015 Nurse.com GEM award honoring outstanding nurses nationwide.
Lowrance, who will be honored with 23 other nurses at the Nurse.com Nursing Excellence GEM Awards Dinner, has been the registered nurse senior manager for the seventh floor at Banner - University Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona, for the last eight years. She has been at BUMP for 24 years.
Lowrance “is an outstanding leader, focused on her patients and her staff,” according to comments from her nomination letter. “Her outcomes are amazing – in 2014 she had a 20 percent decrease in falls, a 34 percent discharge timeliness rate, terrific patient satisfaction scores, and NDNQI and Voice of the Employee scores almost completely in the 90 percent.
“Her staff absolutely love her, and she is known throughout BUMCP as a collaborative colleague, eager to share best practices.”
Lowrance earned her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh in 1989. She is the daughter of George and Shirley Yatso, Oconto Falls.
