Oconto Electric Cooperative presented $1,000 scholarships to 10 high school seniors whose parents are members of OEC. Scholarship money comes from capital credits that have been unclaimed for at least three years.
Applicants are judged on grade point average and SAT/ACT scores, activities, awards, accomplishments, a one-page essay about life and career goals, and a letter of recommendation from a third party.
The 2015 recipients are Faith Baldwin, Coleman High School, nursing, Concordia University; Benjamin Giesler, Oconto High School, engineering, Michigan Technological Institute; Christina Jagiello, Lena High School, agriculture and biochemistry, University of Wisconsin-Marinette or UW-River Falls; Matthew Lyng, Oconto Falls High School, mechanical engineering, Purdue University; Austin Noffke, Peshtigo High School, mechanical engineering, Michigan Technological University; Jordan Koppa, Oconto Falls High School, aeronautics, University of North Dakota; Tess Rosner, Coleman High School, speech and language pathologist, UW-Eau Claire; Jenna Langlay, Oconto Falls High School, undecided, Reserve Officer Training Corps, UW-Milwaukee; Jackson Boulanger, Pulaski High School, automotive technology program, Northeast Wisconsin Technical College; and John Blaser, Oconto Falls High School, criminal justice, NWTC.
