To the editor:
Ad in the paper gave notice of price increases at the local hospital. Granted, price of things have gone up, and we thank them for subsidizing different government programs and charity care. If they’re having money problems, where did the money come from to give $75,000 for the softball fields instead of using it for hospital expenses?
Also, another article about a $100,000 donation from ST Paper for the new stadium. It stated it would be used for enhancements, including a more elaborate scoreboard and a larger entrance and a larger combination press box/restroom/concession area.
Why didn’t they stay with the original plan and return any unused money back to the taxpayers? ST Paper should be using some of their extra money to work on cutting down on the noise pollution from the mill. People are moving out because of the loud noise.
Another concern was the article about our school superintendent’s salary at $140,000 per year. That is overboard. In just over seven years it amounts to over $1 million dollars.
Where’s the money coming from? The taxpayers.
