Oconto Falls High School senior Jacob Stoinski advanced to the WIAA Division 2 state golf championship after taking third among 71 golfers June 2 at the Freedom Sectional.
Marinette (326) won the sectional at Irish Waters Golf Course in Freedom, with Freedom (334) finishing second. Oconto Falls (348) was fifth.
Stoinski tied for third among 71 golfers and advanced as an individual qualifier, shooting a 4-over 75 on the 18-hole course.
Results of the state tournament held at University Ridge Golf Course on June 8-9 were not available at press time.
