Ray “Poogie” Trever Jr., 78, of Suring, passed away at home on Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2015. He was born in Hickory on July 4, 1937, to the late Raymond and Ardis (Saunders) Trever.
Ray served his country in the United States Army and served during the Korean Conflict.
Ray married Patricia Pecha on Aug. 8, 1959, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Oconto.
He worked at Scott Paper in Oconto Falls, did roofing and many other odd jobs.
He was an avid fisherman and hunter and took every kid in the neighborhood coon hunting. He enjoyed taking daily road trips with the boys and shaking dice. He loved spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Ray is survived by his wife, Patricia; three daughters, Connie (Mark) Szczepanski, Kim (Patrick Pashouwer) Trever and Cathy (Dave) Schefdore; eight grandchildren, Christoper (Kimberly) Davis, Freddy (Cat) Toutloff, Mindy (Brandon) Schoenborn, Danielle (Tony) Denowski, Trever Schefdore, Jeff Szczepanski, Nicole Szczepanski and Krista (Josh) James; three great-grandchildren, Dylan Schoenborn, Nolan Denowski and Amelia James; four brothers, Robert (Dorothy), Gilbert, Melvin and Joe (Sandy); three sisters, Dorothy Thompson, Lillian Krueger and June (Jerry) Janousky; three brothers-in-law, Roger (Jackie), Neal (Cathy) and Ronnie (Anita); three sisters-in-law, Cindy Pecha, Shirley Retzloff and Lois Trever. Ray is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by triplet sons; his great-grandson, Odis Davis; three brothers-in-law, Robert Krueger, Avery Thompson and Sammy Pecha; and his sister-in-law, Gail Trever.
Visitation was held at Gruetzmacher Funeral Home in Suring on Sunday, Aug. 16, 2015, from 4-8 p.m. Visitation continued at the funeral home on Monday from 8:30 a.m. until the funeral service at 9:30 a.m., with Sam Rothermel officiating.
