Thunderstorms pound northeastern Wisconsin

Clusters of thunderstorms, including a few supercells, moved southeastward across northern into eastern Wisconsin during the morning and early afternoon of July 27 as shown here near Pulaski in eastern Shawano County. Wind damage reports were received across northern Wisconsin. Downed trees and power lines were reported in several communities. A significant tornado occurred around noon in the Appleton and Menasha areas with a preliminary EF-3 rating and estimated peak winds of 140 mph, acceding to the National Weather Service.
