Hortonville, Waupaca win Dairyland semifinal games

Waupaca and Hortonville played for a Dairyland League Grand Championship in 2023 and 2024.

They’ll meet again in this year’s championship game for the third straight season after both teams posted wins in the semifinal round.

Waupaca held Bonduel hitless in a 1-0 win Aug. 17, while Hortonville used a big first inning to hand Pulaski a 13-7 loss.

The championship game is set for 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 24, in Waupaca.

Waupaca 1, Bonduel 0

Brenden Canterbury drove in Johnny Popham with what turned out to be the game’s only run in the bottom of the first inning.

Cade Johnson ended up taking the loss on the mound for the Broncos.

Hortonville 13, Pulaski 7

Hortonville opened the scoring with seven runs in the bottom of the first inning.

The Reds chipped away at the lead and eventually cut the deficit to 8-7 heading into the seventh inning.

The Stars added to their lead with five runs in their half of the seventh.
