Seegmiller wins medalist honors at opening CWC meet

April 21 CWC Mini-Meet #1 Wittenberg-Birnamwood’s George Seegmiller was the medalist at the opening leg of Central Wisconsin Conference golf play at Glen Cairn Golf Course in Ogdensburg. “Today presented the field with brutal conditions with rain at times, high wind and bitter cold, but we were able to at least put ourselves in the top of the conference teams,” Chargers’ Coach Chris Bartletti said. “We didn’t know going out how we would play, since Mother Nature hasn’t allowed us much time to actually be on the course. Overall, we still need to be much better as a team if we want to compete.” But, the bright spot was Seegmiller, who also beat his former personal best competitive round. He scored a 77. “He is a player we will need to lean heavily on this year, and this type of start hopefully signals a special season for him,” Bartletti said. Ten teams competed with Amherst winning with a 344. Wittenberg-Birnamwood placed third with 374, followed by Bonduel in fourth with 375. Marion was sixth at 393, and Menominee Nation had an incomplete score. Joining Seegmiller for Wittenberg-Birnamwood were Jaden Clark’s 96, Luca Pelusi’s 99 and Roman Johnson’s 102. Nicholas Flak also had a 102. Bonduel was led by Jason Bogacz, who scored a 79. He was joined by Colin Fischer’s 88, Cole Westphal’s 98 and Cameron Schroeder’s 110. Evan Wilcox scored 129. Marion was led by Collin Grogan and his 92. He was joined by Brady Malueg with 96, James Nolan with 102 and Jarren Faehling with 103. Elijah Scheef also had a 107. Menominee Nation/Gresham’s entries included Elliott Penass with a 97, Anikohsaeh Corn with a 111 and Holly Brady with a 125. FRCC Mini-Meet #1 Pulaski’s Brady Hayward scored a 75, which placed him in a four-way tie for the second-best score of the day on the Hartford Golf Course. Sheboygan North’s Ryder Miller was the medalist with a 72. The Red Raiders placed fifth as a team with a score of 331. Also scoring for Pulaski were Dixon Holewinski with an 80, and Casey Madlem and Nathan Jossie each with an 88. Bradin Schultz scored an 89.
